Retaining Walls
Retaining walls, seat walls and planters are a very popular part of backyard landscaping and design in Florida. Not only do they add to the aesthetics of your backyard oasis, they also provide much needed functionality in the form of retaining soil and plants as well as providing additional seating. Walls are a great way to create more space for entertainment and relaxation. They also offer the benefit of closing in areas of your backyard without blocking the view of your yard and other landscaping features.
Materials
You can build your wall using many different types of materials, such as stone, wood, concrete or custom blocks. However, when considering cost, maintenance and functionality, stone walls are clearly the best choice. Natural stone caps like travertine can be combined with stone for a sophisticated look.
Cost and Maintenance
When weighing the cost and maintenance of your custom retaining wall, seat or planter you must consider the elements of Florida weather and how materials will stand up to it. Wood does not last nearly as long as Rumblestone or Rumblewall. In addition, maintenance on this type of material is slim to none.
